I have recently Finished reading a book titled “The Red Badge of Courage”.

The book is about a young man, Henry, who leaves home and joins the Union Army.

During his first battle he runs away.
Then he wanders around just thinking about weird things, until he finds his regiment and joins them again.
He fights in the next few battles without running away, and is noticed by the commader for his courage (he lead a charge into enemy lines).

At the end of the book, the Civil War is ending and he is preparing to return to his home.

Patriotism is something shared by all true Americans, a love of country, it is a pride that burns in the heart of every American, something that cannot be taken away.

But today people in this country are doing everything that they can to take away the patriot in all of us.
We can not let this happen, this has got to stop!
Patriotism is the thing that bonds the country together.

if there is no patriotism, then this country will fall apart.

At this point in my school I am reading about the Civil war, a bloody time in American History a time when Brother was pitted against Brother.

This war tore apart communities and families, it was a time when boys became men.

In the last book I read, Titled “Across Five Aprils” displays the hardships of the war.

Jethro’s Brothers go to war, three to the Union, one to the Confederates, which causes trouble for the family.

And then his father can no longer work in the fields, so he takes the role of the man of the house and does the work of a man, though he is only eleven years old.

Today is the 5th year to the day when terroist’s attacked our country, it is one of those events where you remember where you were, what you were doing, and how you felt after hearing about it.

I Remember the day 5 years ago, I was watching a TV program and mom came down and talked to us about what happened, then we prayed for the country, for the president, and for the families of those who were killed.

I was young at the time 8 years old or so, and I didn’t really know what to feel, I just knew that we would get the people who did it.

Shortly after the attacks President Bush told the people of America that these crimes cannot go unpunished and that he would, to the best of his ability find and deal justice to, the people behind these attack.

I believe that the President has done what he promised though its not over yet, I know that we will get the people behind these attacks

Its that time of year again, when the Earth makes a full circle around the Sun since your last Birthday, indeed it is my Birthday, my 14th birthday to be exact, Happy Birthday Me!.
